REDS IN AMERICA
CAMPAIGN AGAINST FORM OF GOVERNMENT
DAUGHERTY’S REASON FOR RESIGNING (Rec. April 24 , 8.35 p.m.) New York, April 23. At Columbus, Ohio, Mr. Daugherty told an audience of friends and neighbours that he had relinquished his Cabinet position rather than contribute to a treasonable cause. Files in the Department of Justice contained abundant proof of the hellish designs of the Communist Internationale. Files which he refused to deliver to the investigating committee at the time his resignation was requested had been demanded by Brookhart and Wheeler, Senators, who spent last summer with Soviet friends in Russia. Tha Department records showed that a Communist movement began in the United States three years ago to destroy confidence in the American form of Government. To this end confidence in the men of both political parties had to be destroyed at any cost, and by any means, of a cruel, criminal, or murderous character. Men in authority had to b« assassinated. —Reuter.
