THE MEMORIAL SERVICES

Anzao Day will be commemorated to-morrow, when a scries of memorial services for fallen soldiers will be held. At It a.m. an open-air service will be held at the Cenotaph. Services will also be held in the afternoon, one at the Town Hall at 3 o’clock and the other at the Opera House at the same hour A children’s memorial service will also be held, under the auspices of the Wellington Education Board, at 11 a.m. in tlie square between Dixon and Manners Streets. His Excellency the Governor-Gener-al will attend the service at the Town Hall. “SMALL THINGS. And as Anzac Day again approaches one realises hoiv true the. words are. There are thousands who . will find some comfort and solace in meeting their kinsmen under a common root, and joining in the divine service which is to commemorate the going “West of tho ’bravo and heroic . souls who have passed beyond the veil, many of them the flower of our manhood. \ve can understand the yearning underneath the surface of the outward life of those who have lost their dear ones, and in many cases the light of their life gone oiit. “To love is to live,_ and when that something to love is taken, one pictures tho loneliness of those who have suffered such a loss in the Great War. Therefore, tho yearning at tho back of the prayers on Anzao Day would indeed he something for those who attend the divine service to try and grasp, and share where passible a little of tho light that is still-left to burn brightly m their own lives. A kind and checiy word, just a look understanding, and the hand of sympathy extended in a cordial greeting of friendship. These are small things, but priceless to those around us, who are yearning for those they have loved. So that when we bow our heads hi thankfulness for the sacrifices, which were made for us, let our yearnings at inc back of our prayers be that those around us who have been bereft of their loved ones may be comforted and cheered bv the light that never faileth. and that not even death can dim, when we place m»r trust in the giver of all things.
