The racing was good, some of the finishes being portion hi rlv close, the last race resulting in a ft.KI heat. The chief event was won by Air. G. 1. Vallance’s Little . River, who was caught in a galloping humour, and he scored comfortably. Mr. Vallance also won the open sprint race with Chimera, and Mr. W. E, Bidwill s two-vear-old Subjection again proved the best of the juveniles. He and Prince Hal were the only horses to win two races at the meeting. Details and arrangements in connection with the racing ag-tn worked without a hitch, and except for a delay caused through a false start m the two-vear-old race the, events were go off well up to time. Diere was also nothing in the day’s running to call was brisk, and as the favourites fared fairly well there was a good amount put through the machine the total for the eight races being £2'1.322 10s.. making £39.62j for the meeting, which is an increase of £142on the autumn meeting last J ear.

MOROA WELTER HANDICAP H.vama and Ardfinnan were scratched for the Moroa Welter Handicap, and Spoony the winner of the maiden lace the first day. was a good favouiite. Bitters and Bumptious got the worst of the start after some delay, and going out or the straight Aeriform took the lead with Scion. Printemps, Lady Ben. and Little River well up. Little f an 111 scecand position a little furtner on, and at this stage both Printemps and Lady Ben got into trouble the latter dropping wed back. The rear lot consisted of Merry Day and Bumptious, with Bitters running up. There was little, change till the home turn was reached, where Printemps began to close on the leaders again, and at the top ot tne straight Aeriform was just leading Little River with , Printemps handy, lln tlie run homo Little River continued to gallop well, and at the post he was two” lengths clear of Printemps who beat Aeriform by three parts ot a length. Scion was fourth, a length away, followed by Stream, Lady Bumptious, and Merry Day, with Bitters hist. It was Little River s day out, and he really gave nothing a look in at the business end. ELECTRIC HACK HANDICAP. Entre Nous, Idleness, and Gold Pan were not produced for the Electric Hack Handicap, and Glimpse was made ■i good favourite. Bonlita, from No. 1, began quickly from Heathcote and Tinoliari, and at the end of a furlong Heathcote was not going well enough to keep Her place, Tatrina running up to BonMta with Glimpse at the head of the others. On the turn the two leaders were well clear of Tinohari, with Glimpse next. At the top of the straight Tatrina was done, and Glimpse set out after Bpnlita, while Tinohari got a run on the rails. Hard ridden. Glimpse beat Bonlita by. threeparts of a length, with Tinohari three lengths away. Debate was a couple of lengths off in fourth place, followed by Heathcote arid Tatrina. JUVENILE HANDICAP. Calm Eve and Kilintha were taken out of the Juvenile Handicap, and the first day’s winner, Subjection, was

' made a hot order, with Star Shell the most favoured of the others. there was a long delay and one false start, and when they were finally let go Miss O’Dille hit the front, with Paula and Star Shell the- most prominent of the others, Lady Ideala being left. Round the turn Subjection came fast on . the outside, and at the top of the straight Miss O’Dille was done with, Subjection being on terms with Paula. Kilmar was fourth three lengths away, with Dark Rosaleen the best of the others. TAUHERENIKAU AVELTER HANDICAP. The scratchings for the Tauhorenikau Handicap were Avonlea and Mountain March, and in a good bettino- race Atapo was made fvourite. Prince Hal led all the way from Atapo and Mangawhero, and in the straight Happy Days came strongly. He failed to reach the leader by a head at the post, with Atapo two lengths away. Mangawhero was three lengths further away, in fourth place, with Peneus next, and Refrigeration, who was si oct of work, last. Peneus was a different horse from the first day. SETTLERS’ HACK HANDICAP. All started in the Settlers’ Hack Handicap, and money came so strongly for Radiac and Hyama, that they finished up by carrying over 50 per cent, of the tickets. Otaura, Bonrina, SJilk Rein, and Good Mark were the early leaders, but Good Mark dropped' back a little later, and Hyama ran up to Otaura on tho turn leadino- into the straight. At tho top of tho straight, Hyama, Otaura, and Silk Rein were in close order, with Radiac coming fast. Silk Ropy t'Cllted at the distance, and a slashing finish to the judge saw Radiac win under punishment by a head from Otaura, who beat Hyama by a neck Good Mark was a length away fourth witn Silk Rein close up. The second horso was the outsider of the field. FAREWELL SCURRY. Tatrina was the only one missing from the concluding event of the meetin <r. and backers sorted out Ardfinnan, making him a four figure favourite, while there was plenty, of money also for Cinders and Kilfaire. Gold Pan led at the start but was soon joined by Ardfinnan and Kilfaire. with Cinders next. Gold Pan faded out before the straight was reached, and Ardfinnan turned for home first, out was at once tackled by Kilfaire.
