METHODIST BIBLE CLASSES

EASTER CAMP AT SOLWAY. During the Easter holidays the Wellington District Young Men’s Methodist Bible classes have been gathered together in camp at Solway showground, Masterton. Some 200 young men, ranging in ago from 13 upwards, journeyed up to Solway on Thursday, and amidst almost perfect surroundings and ideal weather conditions, commenced a holiday that will live long in their memory ns n time of joy, combined with due consideration of the higher things of life, and especially the events that Easter time commemorates. Good Friday morning dawned w-arm and sunny, and though rain fell later on it was not sufficient to dampen the enthusiasm of the campers. Considering the importance ot the day, »nd the greatest event in history winch it commemorates, it. was spent quietlv and reverently. In the morning an Easter service was held, conducted by the camp captain. Rev. E. T. Olds. During the aikernoon two short addressee were given, one by Mr. C. R. Edmond, on behalf of the New Zealand Alliance, and the other, a personal talk to young men, by Dr. Prior. The main feature of the evening was a camp missionary meeting, addressed by Mr. C. R. Edmond, for the purpose ef. deciding whether the Bible class movement should send out a medical missionary of its own to the foreign fields. It was unanimously decided in favour of the venture. > Saturday’ was sports and visitors day. Though rain fell early in the morning later on the weather broke, and a great dav of keen competition and exciting finishes in the field of athletics was spent. Championship medals were won W. Turvey (Trinity), 27 pomis. Intermediate: G Rouse (Lower Hutt), 16 points. Junior: C. Newton (Maranui), -1 points. In the evening the great camp concert was held, and visitors and campers alike were treated to a really excellent and well-balanced programme On Sunday morning tho whole camp paraded at 10 o'clock, and marched up to Mastorton, where they filled tne Methodist Church to overflowing. An inspiring servioc was conducted by the her. W. Beckett, a special feature being tho hearty singing of the campers. In the afternoon senior and junior model Bible classes were held, and in the evening the service was again conducted by the Rev. E. T. Olds, followed by Communion. , Monday the last day in calnp. was devoted mainly to organised games of hockey. Rugby, and Soccer. A scratch Rugbv match was played between camj* and the Salvation Army, which resulted in a draw (6 all). The camp broke up at midday, when cheers were heartily given for those who had worked so hard to make the camp <uch an unqualified success.
