TYPOGRAPHICAL CONFERENCE
DOMINION AGREEMENT FAVOURED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin. April 21. ; The Typographical Conference this morning resolved that An, endeavour be made to secure a Dominion agreement with the employers in connection with the negotiations that will be necessary when the present award expires. Th© opinion was unanimously expressed that owing to the technical nature of the industry the Arbitration Court was incompetent to make a satisfactory award. The employers are to be approached in August. It was resolved, after a long discussion that the association favours the formation of an advisory council, composed of two typographers, two linotype operators, and four others, to be appointed by the related printing trades, such council to be empowered to make, recommendations for common action in national ouestions affecting the industry, its findings to be submitted to the union.
