SPORTS MEETING AT ATHLETIC PARK
H. E. WILSON BENEFIT. The sports meeting which will take place at Athletic Park next Saturday is an attempt by Wellington athletes to honour and assist one whose achievements in the athletic arena deserve recognition. The proceeds will go towards clearing part of the very hcaiy expenses incurred by H. .E. AA ilson through tho unfortunate accident winch lie suffered at Hobart. IL K Wilson s performances are too well known to require repetition, suffice it is to say that ho ranks as one of the six best hurdlers tjie world has ever seen. Local athletes are desirous of making the meeting as much a success as is to this encl nro not ftslvinj? for trophies rewards of any sort' in tho different events. U vs anticipated that tho public will do its part. New Zealand champions Afun.ro, C. H. Jenkins Tracy. Dufresne, Brown, the Oakley brothers, and Miss Swinburne will compote, ns will nlso i’jlliott, Anckland’s leading sprinter (who defeated GDavidson), and Yates, one of Christchurch’s best runners. Local schools and colleges will also try conclusions for the Blundell Cups which have been put up for competition at this meeting by the AYellington Amateur Athletic Club.
