THE ALL BLACKS

AUSTRALIAN VISIT CRITICISED ‘HARDLY FAIR TO PLAYERS’ Tlie trial matches to I*9 played prior to the selection of the All Black, team were the subject of considerable discussion at tho jneeting of the management committee of the Wellington Rugby Union last night. The opinion was freely expressed that the visit to Australia was hardly fair to players. The case was cited for the man from North Auckland who might be travelling from May 8 until the date of the team’s return from Australia, and then,. through mishap, lose his chance of inclusion in the team. The chairman (Mr. J. Prendeville) remarked that the question of leave had to be considered as well. Mr. F. A. Laws: They should send a separate New Zealand team to Australia. Mr. E. Perry: It’s too much to ask of the players. . . .” Mr. Perry added that they might play on their way back. Mr. S. G. Hale reminded the meeting that a team was being sent to Australia for tho benefit of the game there. Mr. W. J. Hardham thought it was not the committee’s province to recommend one way or the other.. On the motion of Air. Perry it waC decided to leave the matter in tha hands of the delegates to the annual meeting of tho parent body. A similar course, it was decided, would bo followed in connection with the playing of the combined match. It was pointed out that AA'ellington was , well catered for in the way of fixtures, and it was thought that either Palmerston North or Wanganui should get the game.
