A CONTENTED SERVICE
At the hearing of the marine engineers’ case before the Conciliation Council yesterday Mr. James Smitli stated that engineers received or were paid for sixty-one days’ holidays during the year, and payments over wages totalled £1.200 a month. He knew that the Union Steam Ship Company had a contented staff, and one engineer, whose engagement had been terminated, told him that he had never been so well off in his life as in the service. « .
