REDFERN BAND AN UNLIKELY COMPETITOR.

It is reported that the famous Red fem Band, of Sydney, which had entered for the New Zealand championship band contests at Christchurch and Palmerston North, will not now par ticipate, having resolved to concentrate on its preparations for its trip to England to compete nt the Empire Exhibition. The cancellation of the entry has not yet been officially announced by tho New Zealand authorities. The absence of the Redfern Band will be widely regretted, as it will roll tho competitions of on© of thoir most picturesque features.
