RADIUM FUND

FURTHER HELP FROM THE COUNTRY Latest- donations to the Radium Fund are; —

A letter from the Town Clerk, Woodville, notifies that the sum of £4l 2s. 6d. is in hand, of which £3S 10s. 6d. was collected by Mr. O. 11. Bruce, and that further efforts are being made. The Lower Hutt Committee notifies a further sum of £6o'in hand, making a total of £360 for this borough. The secretary states that there has been no reply yet from some of th’e larger centre's and as patients from these centres will certainly be among those who will avail themselves of the treatment when it is established, it is reasonable and right to expect the support of these centres. He has no doubt the committee will hear from them in •i day or two. There are many citizens from whom the committee expected help for such % humane object, but who from various reasons have not so far contributed. With thkir help, which will no doubt be forthcoming shortly, the amount should be well in band before the end of the present month. If the fund is not completed bv January 31. another drive will be made, and all those who have not so far subscribed will be waited on. The following letter has been forwarded to the Hospital Board ‘ The Chairman, Hospital Board, Wellington. Dear Sir. —I am enclosing' a cheque for £5OOO from the Baditim Fund Committee. The committe desires that this amount be placed at interest in the meantime and such interest bo allowed to accrue to the fund. Further sums will bo sent on as they are available. With best wishes for the success of your venture. —(Signed), G. Mitchell, Secretary.
