FUTURE OF IMPERIAL INSTITUTE

GERMAN AGENT'S OF SOVIET TRUST. The report of the Imperial Institute Committee of Inquiry into the financial difficulties of the institute consequent on the withdrawal of overseas contributions was issued recently. Ihe institute was erected as. ail Imperial memorial of Queen Victoria’s Jubilee in 1887. n , Tho committee recommend that the institute should discontinue the attempt to illustrate by means of ex hibition galleries the natural resources of the Empire, and a really representative selection of Empire products be made for the purpose of a travelling exhibition of a purely educational character, and that tho possibility of organising a travelling exhibition of the staple products of the Colonies in the appropriate trade centres should be considered. The Imperial Institute should continue as a Clearing House of Intelligence and information, end it« amalgamation with the Imperial Mineral Resources Bureau is recommended.’ , It is proposed that an annual sum of £BOOO should be contributed by the Dominions towards the maintenance of the rccosntructed institute.. If contributions were not forthcoming, states the report, it would entail the severance of the institute from its horn* in South Kensington.
