£7,000,000 IN BURIED TREASURE
.——♦> — CABIN BOY’S STORY TO BE TESTED The Scientific Expeditionary Research Association’s yacht St. George, which trill sail from London this month, will call at Cocos Islands, seeking £7,000,000 in buried treasure. . A century ago the British ft mp, Mary Read, calling at Lima during the war between Chile and Peru, was made the temporary receptacle of gold plate, valued at 12,000,000 dollars. Tho crew absconded to the Cocos Islands and buried the loot, but were pursued, overtaken, and shot. A man recently communicated with the organisers of the St. George expedition, saying that years ago he had met the cabin boy of the Mary Read, who had escaped, and had given him the exact bearing and location of the hoard.
