LAWN TENNIS
Sir, —In your supp!eme,nt of January 5 we are told in one place that Andrews was "several times within a point of being the youngest player to win the title of New Zealand champion.’ In another place we read that he was “several times within two points of winning the match” wth Sims. The latter account, which was written by one who was on the spot, ic the correct one Andrews was not even 'once within a point of beating Sims, let alone of winning the championship. If he had beaten Sims he would still have had to beat Bartleet and Oli vier, and in each case it would have been ever! betting. It would certainly have been odds against his beating both. Andrews is such a fine young player that he can afford to abide bv a true statement of the facts. Both he and Sims seem destined to play a very important part in Now Zealand lawn tennis for many years to <ome, and it is very undesirable that inaccurate statements of their doings should be put on record —I am, etc., SEN EX.
