DESTRUCTIVE FIRE AT AUCKLAND
LARGE BULK STORE GUTTED. By Telbghai>u—Press Association Auckland, Jannarv 16. A fire occurred at 1. o’clock this morning in the Home and Colonial bulk store. Newton Read. a. large concrete structure of two stories. The interior of the store was gutted, and apparc-ntlv the contents represent a complete loss. Tho building was owned by John Robertson, who resides next door. He values tho stock at between £19.000 and £12.000. and the building, which was formerly Askell’s brewery, at between £4OOO and £5OOO. The loss is partly covered by insurance. Tib* insurances are £4OOO on the building and £BOOO on the stock, in the Northern Assurance Office.
