Pastures were get-, ting low, and they would soon have to go beyond the'prescribed area in order to supply Wellington with mils. Another dairying authority said that the drought had severely hit dairy farmers, particularly in South Wairarapa, where the pastures . had been badly burnt up. He gave it as his opinion that the supply of milk in that district this season had been reduced by fully 50 per cent., and this would mean a corresponding reduction in the output of cheese.
