SOUTH ISLAND BAND CONTEST
REQUEST OF ADJUDICATOR REFUSED. By Tbi-zghaph.— Press Association. Christchurch, January 10. At a meeting of the South Island Band Contest Committe, Mr. F. M. G. McLeod, sole adjudicator, advised that he might be judging at Palmerston North until February 16, and would be unable to arrive at Christchurch by eFbruary I*s, for the first day of the contest. He asked for leave to appoint a substitute for the first day. It was decided to reply to Mr. McLeod to the effect that the committee expected him to be on duty the first day, according to the terms of his engagement. . The Port Nicholson Band inquired it the hvmn, “Bradford,” would be eligible for the hymn selection. Permission to play “Bradford” was granted. ____
