DAMAGE BY BUSH FIRES
OUTBREAKS NEAR SYDNEY SUBURBS Sydney, January 10. Sydney suburbs sweltered yesterday with the thermometer touching 98 degrees. Bush fires swept a large area near the suburbs. Many buildings were gutted, and a furniture factory was destroyed, causing damage amounting to £lO,OOO. Firemen were •Sept busy throughout the day and evening. Later.
The bush fires are still raging in the suburbs, causing considerable damage. A fire at Coonabarabran destroyed six shops, doing damage estimated at £25,000. —Press Assn.
