“A GREAT SUCCESS”

HEALTH WEEK CAMPAIGN A lengthy report on Health Week activities was submitted to the City Council by Councillor H. D. Bennett (chairman of the executive) at yesterday’s meeting of the council. Councillor Bennett said that the hope of the executive was that the Health Committee might now take up the work of looking after the . health of the city, and carry on during the year. The campaign bad been a great success. The Mayor noted that of the £5OO granted to the executive by the City Council only £4OO had been expended, which showed economical management on the part of the various committees. He commended the vast amount of work done as compared with last year. There had been some outside criticism levelled at Wellington over Health Week, the tenor of which was that Wellington was not as clean as other cities. That was not the argument at all. Wellington was quite as clean as any other city, hut they wanted to make it cleaner. He thanked Councillors Bennett and Chapman, Dr. Morgan, and all concerned, for the special work done during the campaign. The report, which was adopted, included a special recommendation that in view of the great educational value of Health Week, the event be again fixed for next year.
