COMING EVENTS. To-day.—Senior and junior double sculls (Star Boating Club); Wareham four (Wellington Rowing Club). December I.—Senior fours ■ (I'etono Rowing Club). The strenuous period of training for regatta events has now commenced with the rowing clubs; and all carsmen are keenly anticipating the Picton regatta, which is to be held on New Year’s Day. So far it is certain that tho Star and Wellington Clubs will be represented., Members of the different clubs have taken opportunity of the recent spell of calm weather to put in good practice. Crews to represent Star Club in the different regattas during this seaton were made available to “Outrigger” this week. They are as follow—Senior pairs: F. G. Oborn (stroke), If'. R Herd (bow). Junior fours: R. N AVakelin (stroke), P. Hereford (3), J. M. F. Johns (21, and R. W. Fenton (bcw). 2 Maiden fours: E. Deihl (stroke), C. Blundell (3), AV. Steward (2) and D. Newton (bow). Junior double sculls: T. Davis (stroke) and W. Martis (bow). Youths’ fours: A. Cooper (stroke), E. Zohrab (3), G- C. Cooke (2), and J. D. McKinley (bow). These crews are representative of the strength of the club, and with practice together they should make a very strong dot. Their first try-out will be at the Picton regatta. Eight crews in the senior and 10 in the Junior have entered for the Star Club’s double sculls to-day. Messrs. R. Crawford and AV. Thom, coaches of the _ AVellington Club, are row busy coaching regatta crews. The crews to represent tho club at Picton are as follow—Maiden fours: Bognuda (stroke), Wiest (8), Moyes (2), Mawson (bow) Maiden fours (lightweight) : A r an Slyke (stroke), AViikie (3) Morris (2), Collins (bow). Youths’ fours: Van Slyke (stroke), A. Clark (3). Morris (2), Collins (bow), and H. Robins (emergency). Junior fours: Bognuda (stroke), AVest (3), Moyes (2), Mawson (bow) Maiden pair: Bognuda (stroke), Mawson (bow). Maiden double sculls: Eraser (stioke), Scarfo (bow). A set of racing oars, two pairs of racing sculls, end one pair of practice sculls have been ordered by the Wellington Club from McGrath and Co., of Dunedin. Keen disappointment was expressed recently at the annual general meeting of the' Melbourne University Boat Club at the fact that some members of the club rowed with outside clubs, for this reason it was proposed to amend the rules of the dub, to make such mpn ineligible for selection for the university crew which competes in the inter-university boat race, even if tliey had the consent of the University Club to their rowing with ether clubs., The motion to amend tho rules to this efi'cct was agreed to after cvnsidorahk* disoumon-
