YEAR UNDER REVIEtV. The twenty-first annual report of the Y.M.C.A. of the City of Wellington records a year of great activity. The membership at September 30 last was as fellows: Sustaining members, 164; seniors, 533; younger men’s, 212; boys, 421; total, 1330. These figures include a number of members whose subscriptions are not more than three months overdue. The above figures show an increase over last year as follows :—Boys’ division, 50 ; younger men’s department, 43; senior and sustaining, 178; making a total of 271. Educational activities were develo'ped, classes in . salesmanship, public speaking, advertising, business letters, and reports being successfully carried opt during the w.incr. A workshop was established in ll:e basement, and a wireless plant installed. A new feature was the “Y” club,, whose weekly luncheons were largelyattended and produced some interesting addresses and talks. Bible study, prayer week, and strangers’ tea had all received wide patronage fiom members and adherents. During the year £39 was raised towards the support of Y.M.C.A. work in India. The association closely eo-operated with the churches and Bible classes. Under a new arrangement the secretary mist immigrants on arrival and conveyed a welcome. Social activities, physical work, athletics were well maintained Tho financial position of the association was considered satisfactory. Land and buildings were valued at £21,494, furniture and fittings at £3470, and stock at £203, while there were debts owing to a total of £303. Among the liabilities was £790 owing to the bank on overdraft, £14,620 on capital account, and £9399 on mortgage account. There was owing to sundry creditors £823. The annual meeting of the Y.’LC.A. will be held in the Association’s Rooms, Trillis Street, on Monday evening, at 8. . At the close meeting a short address will be given by Mr. F. Stubbs on his experiences in the East. All members and subscribers are invited.
