HOLIDAY RAILWAY TRAFFIC
EXTRA TRAINS TO RUN Tlie Railway Department is making preparations to deal with the rush o’ traffic during the Christmas and New Year holidays. From December 14 to February 8, inclusive, except Christmas Dav and Sundays, extra, trains will run between Wellington and Auckland, and vice versa. In addition to the ordinary 12.40 p.m. train, an express will leave Wellington at 2 p.m. from December to February 8: and, from December 17 to January 6, inclusive. except Christmas Dav and Saturdays, another train will leave Wellington at 8.35 P.m. A train will depart from Auckland at 1 p.m. from December 17 to January 5. inclusive, except Christmas Dav and Sundays, and another train will leave at 7.40 p.m. from December 14 to February 8. inclusive. except Christmas Day and Saturdays. On December 21, 22, and 24, and January 2, a tram will leave Palmerston North nt 2.35 p.m. for Auckland, an-.l on December 21. 23 and 24 and January 2, a train will leave Auckland at 5.40 p.m. for Palmerston North.
' On Dooembbr 21. 22. 24, 26. 27, 29 and 31. and January 1,2, 3. and 5. a train will leave Wellington at 7.40 a.m. for Wanganui, and on the same davs a train from Wanganui will, start start at 11 a.m. for Wellington.' The 7.40 a.m. train from Wellington will, on December 22 and 24, connect at Aramoho with the 2.40 p.m. train for New Plymouth. On January 2. a trail will denart from Stratford at 8.5 a.m., and connect at Aramoho Junction with the train leaving Wanganui at 11 a.m. for Wellington. On December 21. 22. 24, and 29, and January I. 2. 3 and 5. a train will leave Nnnior at 9.20 a.m. for Palmerston North, and from the latter town a train will start at noon for Napier. On December 21. 22. and 24, and January 2. the 9.20 a.m. train from Napier will connect with the train leaving Palmerston North at 2.35 p.m. for Auckland. From December 15. the daily servio between Christchurch and Invercargil 1 will bn resumed in place of tho pro sent service of three trains a week, and this will be maintained until ( falling-off in the volume of passengo traffic necessitates a reversion to the reduced time-table.
