FLAG FOR EASTBOURNE SCHOOL
PRESENTED BY GOVERNORGENERAL. Advantage was taken of the visit to Eastbourne yesterday afternoon of His Excellency the Governor-General to present the local school with a blue ensign. Lord Jellicoe, in making the presentation on behalf of the Navy League, congratulated the school on having 135 paying members of the league out of a total of 220 senior scholars. The flag was received on behalf of the school by Mr. E. King (headmaster). Air. .Wright, (chairman of the school committee being also in attendance). Cheers were given for the King, and Hie Governor-General, and the National Anthem was lustily sung. What delighted the children more than anything was His Excellency’s request that the school should bo given a half holiday to mark tho happy occasion.
