RECONSTRUCTION IN JAPAN
REVISION OF PLANS TO CURTAIL EXPENDITURE; Tokio, November 28. After three sessions, at which the Government’s plan of reconstruction was searchingly examined, the Advisory Council recommended the amendment of the plan by eliminating the construction of the Tokio-Yokohamn. Canal, and of Tokio harbour, which should be separately dealt with, and also advised the shortening of the first period of reconstruction by twelve months. Bv this means it is believed possible to curtail the expenditure by more than a hundred million yen. The Government to-dav agreed to meet the wish of the council as far as possible!— Reuter.
