PROTESTANTISM
An enthusiastic audience filled the Taranaki Street Methodist School Hall, on the occasion of a Protestant demonstration on Tuesday evening, and a lecture on "John Huss, the Pioneer Reformer,” by the Rev. F. E. Harry, minister in charge of the Vivian Street Baptist Church. The chair was occupied by Mr. C. R. Bowatcr, D.G.M., of the L.O. Institution, by whom the meeting was arranged. Associated with him on the platform were a number of members of the district executive. The lecture was listened to throughout with tho closest attention, punctuated by rounds of applause. Prior to the lecture a choice programme of vocal and instrumental items was rendered, recalls being demanded and responded to in each instance. Songs. "Arm, Arm, Ye Brave” ttnd "The Lord is My Light,” Mr. H. E. Wilson; violin soli. Miss Cooney; songs, "There is a Green Hill” and “My Task," Miss Norris, nnd musical monologue, "In the Crowd,” Mrs. G. Castles (acoompaniste Mrs. Boyce). At tho conclusion of the lecture a hearty vote of thanks to the lecturer nnd the performers was carried by acclamation, on the motion of the Rev, Howard Elliott and Mr. G. Pcthorick.
