(From Our Own Corresnondent.) Carterton, November 28. At a meeting of the Carterton Borough Council last night, the treasurer’s statement showed a credit of £l5BB. Rates collected during the month amounted to £1047 17s. 3d., and £275 Is. 4d. had been received for gas. Accounts amounting to £625 14s. sd. wese passed for payment.. It was decided to permit mixed bathing for school children and adults during certain hours, under proper supervision. The Wairarapa P. and A. Society were granted a rebate of £lO in the water rate. An appeal from the AVellington Radium Fund was supported by the council, and referred to a committee to deal with. A loan of £2200 is to be taken from the Government Insurance Department to wipe off the antecedent liability, the loan to be taken up on the instalment repayment principle at 6 per cent, over a period of 36J years. At a meeting held in Carterton on Monday night, it was decided to take steps to form a Radio Club, and a committee was set up to canvass for members. The Savage Club has promised to hand over all its radio appliances to a properly organised club, only retaining its ownership. At a meeting of Totara Lodge, U.A.0.D., the following officers were elected: —A.D. Bro. H. Bassett; V.A.D., Bro. A. King; secretary. Bro. E. McKenzie; treasurer, Bro. H. Smith; T.G.. Bro. H Matson; 0.G.. Bro. J. Hickson; A. Bros. A. H. Snge and D. Kitney; V.A.B.’s, Bros. J. D. Moncrieff and B. Whitburn; musicinn. Bro. E.. McFadgen; delegates to Friendly Societies’ Council Bros. E. McKenzie and R. Smith: auditor. Bro. J. Johnston. Bros. P. Heid. AV. Earl, and W. AVebb were nominated for district president. The Wainvawa Freezing Works are to open for the season on Monday next, under the control of the recently-formed W.n'rarana Frozen Meat Company. The Tennic Club nt Cross Creek is to open the season next week. The asphalt court, which was put down a few seasons ago, has been top-dressed.
