LOWER HUTT BOROUGH COUNCIL
Tho Lower Hutt Borough Council “eld. its fortnightly meeting on Monday. The Mayor (Mr. W. T. Strand) presided. There were also present: Councillors J. Mitchell, .G. Meldntm, A. J. Hobbs, A. F. Roberts, E. W. Hunt, L. T. Watkins, H. G. Teagle, A. Mcßain, and D. A. Ewen. The Petone and Lower Hutt Gas Board wrote enclosing debentures for £1585, being balance of purchase money of the council’s undertaking. The engineer was instructed to insist upon compliance with the by-law in regard to the minimum distance buildings must be kept from boundaries. Two cases of infectious disease were reported. A special vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. W. Meldrum. of Nainai, for donating 2000 assorted seedlings to the Scenic Reserve Committee, to Mr. A. Rumjay, of Waterloo Road, for 500 assorted seedlings; to Mr. Allsop, of Cottles Lane, for 300 assorted seedlings; also to Mr. F. "Westbury, for donating 200 chrysanthemum plants for planting in various garden plots in the borough.
