AUTOMOBILE CLUB

PROTESTS AGAINST BY-LAWS. Mr. S. G. Nathan presided over a special meeting of the Wellington Automobile Club committee yesterday afternoon. There were also present Messrs. Donne, Curtis,, and Goldberg. A resolution protesting against the by-law prohibiting motorists from driving through certain busy streets unless they have business in those streets was carried! unanimouly. The main objection to the by-law expressed by members was th a J it would be impossible to enforce it.

Another protest was made against the city by-law forbidding motor wagons to drive through the same streets at a speed in excess of 4 miles an hour. Members contended that if the motor wagons vic nt through the streets at that epeed they would help to congest the traffic. The protests are to be forwarded to individual members of the council, and an endeavour is to be made to form a deputation to wait on the By-laws Committee. Several now members wore elected to the club.
