MERCANTILE LEAGUE.
A’acuum with five wickets down for 150 declared in their match against Kirks on Saturday. AVilson and Gibson nutting on 83 for the first wicket. Principal scorers were AVilson 37, Gibson 40. Duck 16. AVheatley (not out) 10. Bowling for Kirks Plant took two wkkots for 57. and Hopkins three for 40. Kirks replied with the poor total of 36. none of their batsmen getting into double figures. Bowling for Vncuum. AVhitc took six wicket« for j-">; Cottrell two for 0. Duck one for 20. This makes Vacuum’s fifth successive victory.
USE OF BASIN RESERVE
The chairman of the Wellington Cricket Association Management Committee (Mr. C. G. Wilson) intimates that he did not intend his remarks on Monday to convey the impression that the City Council was responsible for the association being deprived of the use of the Basin Reserve on Boxing Day for the Auckland-Wellington Plunket Shield match.
