THE PHILIPPINES
DEMAND FOR INDEPENDENCE AN EIGHT-YEAR-OLD PLEDGE By Telegraph—Press Association. Copyright. . (Rec. November 27. 10.50 p.m.) Washington, November 20. Mr. Coolidga has received a concurrent resolution from both Houses of the Philippine Legislature asking h ni to include in his message at the opening of Congress, on December 3, a recommendation favouring Philippine independence. A note accompanying the resolution draws attention to the serious situation existing in the islands as a result of the divided responsibility of the administration of domestic affairs, and points out that eight years have elapsed since independence was pledged. The people are beginning to wonder when it will be kept. Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
