That humans are not tho only beings that can come under tho spell of the green-eyed monstler. jealousy, was demonstrated at tho Timaru High Schools Board (savs the “Herald”). About nine or ten years ago the board purchased for £6 a horse to supply .tho necessary horse-power for mowing, rolling, etc. During the form' of his engagement, “Nugget,” as the horse was called, gradually becamo an integral part of school life, and when it was announced that lie had come to tho end of his tether quite a number of old boys, as well as present pupils, felt that a real personality, had been removed. When a now animal made its appearance on the place, old Nugget set to nnd worked like a Trojan. Evidently there must have been conflict somtovhere, for as soon as the gate was left open tho stranger made a clean getawav and soon put tho distance of the Pnrcora dam (where lie camo from) between himself and his now masters. So now Nugget has been reinstated as Al at Lloyds, the newcomer has found employment at the girls’ school.
