Notice ts hereby given Hmt at a Special Meeting of the AA’ellington City Council, held on October 18. 1923, the following resolution was passlid :— The AVellington City Council hereby makes by Special Order the following By-law, under and by virtue of and in exercise and in pursuance of the powers and authorities Vested in it by the provisions of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, and of all other powers and authorities enabling it in that behnlf. The,Short Title of this By-law is “Tho AVellington City By-law, No. 45 Amendment, 1923.” The object and purport of the Bylaw are:— 1. Preventing Loitering in public conveniences. 2. To amend the provisions of By-laws relating to crossings. ' 3. To apply the rule "Keep to tho Left” to pedestrian traffic. 4. To prevent Pillion riding in the City. 5. To increase the minimum of building frontages prescribed in the City area to 20 feet. 6. To provide that no elevator shall be constructed in buildings 4 stOrys or over within 20 feet of any stairway enclosure. 7. To make provision in respect of construction of motor garages. 8. To prevent persons standing in public passages of public buildings. 9. To enact, uew provisions as to the provision of rubbish receptacles. 10. To consolidate tho By-laws relating to the extraordinary water supply, and to increase the basic charge to l/6d. per 1000 gallons where water is pumped, and l/-d. per 1000 gallons in other cases, and to provide new regulations for the construction of sludge taps in hot water systems, and to repeal the Waterworks By-law, 1913. passed by the Miramar Borough Council. 11. To make new provisions for the numberigig of licensed vehicles. 12. To provide that persons holding vehicle licenses shall produce tho same on demand. . . 13. To provide that any person failing to pay the legal faro for use of a licensed vehicle shall be guilty of an offence. 14. To amend Clause 641 of the AVellington City By-law No. 1, 1908. 15.
