NEW ZEALAND TEAM IN AUSTRALIA DEFEATED IN FIRST TEST (Rec. June 10, 5.5 p.m.) Sydney, June 10. The first' test match was played in fine weather. New South Wales defeated New Zealand by 91 to 88. Play throughout was keen. Love’s rink, 17. beat Kilgour’s rink, 15. Staley’s, 34, beat Hutchison’s, 17; McKay’s, 18, lost to Broad’s. 26; Wodhouse’s, 22, lost to Jenkins’s. 30. The visitors found the greens harder and drier than those in New Zealand. The next test will be played on Monday.—Press Assn.
