FURTHER ARRESTS BY POLICE. (Rec? June 8 8.45 p.m ’. Tokio, Juno 7 The police activities against the Communists have extended to Labour, two prominent Labour leaders being arrested to-day. It is expected there will be many more arrests, including writers on labour topics. The police have searched the buildings of the Waseda University, which was the scene of/disorders recently, when a number of the faculty attempted to organise a. militaristic society among the students. The police have temporarily Suppressed the university newspaper, and the students have called a mass ipeeting to protest against police interference with liberty' and learning.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
lit was reported from Tokio on June 5 that the police had arrested over a hundred Communists and Socialists and charged them with taking part in a conspiracy to organise a Communist State.!
