MINISTER ON TOUR
MR. COATES IN THE BACKBLOCKS

The Minister of Public Works (the Hon. J. G. Coates) returned to Stratford last night after spending two days In the eastern backblocks and inspecting the railhead an the Stratford main trunk railway. He received a number of deputations at Stratford on local matters. Regarding the vigorous prosecution of the work on the western end of the railway, Mr. Coates said that an indication of the limo of starting would be given in the Public Works Statement.
Mr. Coates left this morning for Eltham, Manaia, and Opunake. He will return on Friday to Stratford te lay the foundation stone of the lew post office and the town bridge, leaving by motor fcr Wellington in the evening.
