MEDICAL AND DENTAL SCHOOLS
LARGE SUM ASKED FOR.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, June 7. A deputation met the Prime Minister to-day, placing tho requirements of the medical and dental schools before him, involving in all £I3U,WU. Dr. Ferguson stated that last year tho position became very acute, because the General Medical Council in England stated that the teaching here must be on certain lines, and if this was not complied with our degrees would not be recognised. He urged the necessity for new buildings, and asked for £30,000 of the amount for th» dental school. Mr. Massey said he could not definitely state what he could offer. He had first to see what money was available and provide equitable distribution. He recognised that tho dental school had more immediate urgent needs.
