PLUNKET SOCIETY SUBSIDY
POSSIBLE INCREASE

A deputation‘ from the Plunket Society asked Mr. Massey to-day for ar' extension of Government assistance totalling £15,982. as under.; —Karitane Hospital, Dunedin, £2000; Christchurch, £1000; Wanganui, £1000; subsidy on the salary of the director of the Plunket Nursing Homcj £200; subsidy on the salary of the secretary of the Central Council, £100; travelling allowance for director, £182; subsidy for nurses, £11,500 Mr. Massey detailed the enormous calls On the country’s finance, but said that he would endeavour to induce his colleagues to increase the subsidy paid last year, which amounted to about £ll,OOO.
