A well-attended and enthusiastic gathering of members of tho Wellington Retail Grocers’ Assistants’ Union was held on Saturday in honour of the retiring secretary, Air. Robert McKeon, AI.P. Mr. J. Duncan, president of the union, presided, and amongst those present were Mr. J. Roberts, secretary of the Alliance of Labour, and Air. J. Thorn, editor of the “Maoriland Worker.” An enjoyable programme of songs was submitted. Speeches were made complimentary to Air R. AlcKeen and the services renderd by him during the six years ho had been secretary of the union, and hopes were expressed for his success as a ’ member ot Parliament. He was presented with a gold Waltham watch suitably inscribed, and Airs. AlcKeen was presented wtih a cameo brooch.
