Tho circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a middle-aged man. Frederick Anderson, who resided at 7 Malcolm Lane, were inquired into by the Coroner (Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M.) yesterday afternoon. A verdict was returned that death was due to heart failure, following a long-standing disease of the kidneys. Mr. Charles W. Phipson (Assoc. Memb. Inst. Brewing, Loud.), son of Mr. and Mrs. Percy B. Phipson, Turnbull Street, and under-brewer to Messrs. J. Staples and Co. Ltd., has been elected a member of the Biochemical Society, London. Mr. Johannes Andersen, of the Turnbull Library, will give a lecture at the Y.W.C.A. on Wednesday night next •on “The Birds and Bush of New Zealand.” This lecture is open to allnot only to Y.W.C.A- members.
