Efforts are being made throughout the Baptist denomination, to raise a memorial fund in connection with the name of the late Rev. R. S. Giay This will be a perpetual reinforcement of the annuity fund. Already a considerable amount has been promised Reference will be made to it in the local Baptist Churches tomorrow. At the Central Church, in Vivian Street, the Rev. F. E. Harry will preach in the morning on “What it Costs to be a Christian,’” and in the evening on “What It Costs not to be a Christian.” , There were 18.256 child wives in Calcutta, according to the last census in Bengal. More than 14.000 of these were between 10 and 25 years of age, while 2696 ahi l d ten under 15 were widowed.
