TAITA PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION
A meeting of the newly-formed Taita District Ratepayers’ and Progressive Association was held on Tuesday at the Tait a. Hall, when officers were elected as follow: —President, Mr. F. H. Futter; vice-presidents, Messrs. Burgess and Kilmister; secretary, Mr. F. H. Cooper; committee, Messrs. Hodgkins, McGregor, L. Glover. Mason, Ferretti, Havard. Alsop. Cardno, V. Pemberton, and C. K. Drummond. An active canvass for members was decided on, it being realised that the need exists for an association to look after the public welfare of the district. Among other matters which will claim attention in the near, future are the state of the roads, which are in a very bad condition, also the river; and in time to come the electric power shortly to be installed.
