RACE DAY SPEED LIMITS

AUTOMOBILE CLUB ADVISES CAUTION Motorists using the .main Hutt road between the city and Trentham to-day are advised liy the Wellington Automobile Club to be careful to observe the legal speed limits, particularly in passing through Petone and Lower Hutt boroughs. The secretary states thatl following: the club’s practice on previous occasions, arrangements have been made for a club official to check motorists’ times, in conjunction with the Potonc motor inspector. It has not been found possible, however, to make a similar arrangement in Lower Hutt for to-day. Motorists are warned that, in a long procession of cars en route to the races the borough inspectors keep a particularly alert eye on drivers who leave their places in the line and attempt to get ahead of other cars, as it is held that this practice creates danger on the roads on race days.
