BETTER PRICES FOR FAT LAMBS. RY TELEGEAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION.' Christchurch, April 11. At Addington market to-day there were larger yardings than last week. Fat lambs improved .in price. Store sheep showed a rather decided drop for old owes, but other classes were little changed. Store sheep.—A largo yarding for this time of the year, including lines from Hawke’s Bay, Nelson and Marlborough. Old ewes which formed the bulk of the yarding, were down. 2s. to 3s. per head on last week, good ewes were Is. cheaper, aud backward lambs were easier by Is. to Is. 6d. Passings of ewes were frequent. Good 4,6, and- 8-tooth ewes made 275. to 28s. 4'd.; ordinary 2,4, 6, and 8-tooth 19s. to 225. 6d., ordinary 2-tooth halfbred 295., failing mouthed 13s. 6d. to 18s. 6d., aged ss. Bd. to 12s. 2d. Forward lambs 21s. Bd. to 235. 3d., ordinary 14s. 6d. to 195., inferior 11s. to 145., cull ss. Bd. to 10s. 6d., 4,6, and 8tooth half bred wethers 21s. to 255.. 2tootli halfbred wethers 19s. 6d. to 225. 3d. Fat Lambs.—32so were penned. There was a recovery’ of Is. pef head over all, the price being fully 9id. per Jb., and in some cases touching a halfpenny extra. Prime lambs made 325. 6d. to 355. 9d., a few special to 375. 6d., prime 28s. to 31s. 6d., medium 255. 6d. to 275. 9d., light 235. to 255. 3d. . Fat Sheep.—A bigger yarding and values for good mutton were unaltered from last week. Extra 'prime wethers made 335. 6d. to 405.. prime 295, 9d. to 335., medium 275. 6d. to 295. 6d., light 24 s. 6d. io 275. Extra prime ewes to 355., prime 265. to 28s. 6d., medium 225. 6d. to 255. 6d., inferior 18s. to 21s. 6a., old 15s. to 17s. Fat Cattle. —An exceptionally heavy yarding ol 513 head and a dragging market. Extra prime beef made to 28s. 6d. per lOOlbs. (averaging up to 275.), good beef 245. to -265., medium 225. to 235. 6d., rough to 12s. 6d. Extra pnmo steers realised £l4 to £l6 155., prime £ll ss. to £l3 10s., medium £8 ss. to £ll, .light £6 to £B. Extra prime heifers £lO 7s. 6d., prime £6 ss. to £B, ordinary £3 155.. to £6. Extra prime cows to £lO. prime 15s. to £7 155.. ordinary~£4 to £5 10s., old cows £2 15s. to £3 17s. 6d. Vealers.—A largo entry. Good runners made to £5. ordinary £3 15s. to £4 155., small calves Bs. upwards. Store Cattle. —A poor lot were sent forward and there was a lifeless sale. Three-year steer £3 10s. to £4, 2year steers £2 7s. 6d. to £2 12s 6d„ yearlings to Eighteen months to 2-year heifers £2 ss. to £2 155., yearlings to 30s. . Dairy- Cattle. —A slightly better sale. Inferior sorts were neglected. Medium to good springers made £5 10s. to £ll 10s.. extra good to £l4, medium to good springing heifers £5 to £lO, extra good to £l2 10s., inferior sorts to 30s. xni Fat Pigs.—A large entry. Porkers were in over supply and there was a decline in price for both porkers and baconers. Choppers made- £2 to £5 10s., light baconers £3 ss. to £3 10s., heavy baconers £3 15s. to £4 ss. (average price per lb. Old. to 63d.). light porkers 40s. to 475., heavy porkers 50s. to 58s. (average price 7RI. to BJd. per lb.). Storo Pigs.—A largo v yarding and values were lower.
