LOWER HUTT LADIES’ CLUB. The Lower Hutt Ladies’ Golf Club opened the season yesterday afternoon, when there was a large attendance of members and visitors. Amongst the guests were eight members of the Wellington Ladies’ Golf Cluj), and a similar, number of players from the Miramar Ladies’ Golf Club. The afternoon was put in with an enjoyable foursome, which resulted in two of the Miramar pairs—Aire. Widdop and Miss C. Conway, and Aliases Eraser and 'Wheeler, t:eing for first place. In the play off Mrs. Widdop and Miss Conway won. The Lower Hutt ladies treated their guests with the hospitality for which they are renowned, and provided a dainty’ afternoon tea. Mrs. Murphy is again hon. secretary of the chib this season, which promises to be an active and enjoyable one. AUSTRALIAN PLAYERS IN AMERICA.. (Rec. April 11. 10.15 p.m.) ■ New York, April 10. At White Sulphur Springs, Hagen and Phelps (amateur) defeated Kirkwood and Gardner (amateur), 3 up and 2 to play, over eighteen holes.
