NO CHEAP FARES
FOR BRITISH EXHIBITION VISITORS When\ visiting Wellington recently Mr. <G.’ Hatch, general manager for Tims. Cook ,and Son. in Australia and New Zealand, modes it quite clear that there was nothing m the report of a few months ago that steamship companies intended to reduce passenger fares on all steamers next year, owing to tho British Empire Exhibition which is to open in Easter, 1924. Mr. Hatch said that no promise of the kind had ever been made, so'that those contemplating a trip could at once dismiss the thought that there wae any likelihood of a concession. As a. matter of fact the bookings for next autumn’s steamers from Aus . tralia were already heavy, and in the Now Zealand offices numerous inquiries were being made almost every day.
