EVANS-ORR CASE
APPEAL TO GENERAL ASSEMBLY
The Evane-Orr case, which received much prominence when before the Magistrate’s Court and Supreme Court recently, is now to be dealt with by the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church. It was mentioned at the meeting of the Wellington Presbytery last night. - ... ... Tho Rev.' R. Inglis read a letter he had received from the Rev. Robertson Orr, in which he said: “I wish to join mypelf with Mr. McFarlane in his appeal to assembly against the Presby-. tory’s decision to reopen the Evans trouble The grounds of my appeal are:— (1) A mistake and injustice in the decision, as no new matter was presented. (2) Mrs. Evans is not, and has not been, for some time an adherent or member of St.
Andrew’s Church. She therefore has no acces to tho Presbytery. (3) No possible good could result from the inter-meddling; with civil matters and private quarrels.
There was no discussion. Mr. McKenzie and tho Rev. R. Inglis were appointed to defend the action of the Presbytery before the assembly.
