FAITH CURES
AN ARCHBISHOP’S BELIEF. “I am thankful for the lack of extravagance and hysteria in the testimonies given. There has been no touching-up of the portrait. You have heard a plain, unvarnished tale.” Dr. Harrington Lees, Anglican Archbishop of Melbourne, thus addressed the enormous attendance, which included Lady Forster, at the thanksgiving service for the Hickson healing mission at St. Paul’s Cathedral recently. Afore than 50 of the clergy attended in full canonicals. The Rev. Roscoe Wilson read from the nulpit- extracts from some of the hundreds of letters written by sufferers. These testified to cures in a wide range of diseases. Among them' was one from a chemist certifying that a girl had been cured of severe goitre. “These things you have heard are data, scientific data, which cannot be got over,” Dr. Lees declared, .adding that the Church, which desired no advantage from the mission, did not care how they were explained, so long as all the channels explored led ult-mate-ly to God.
