PERAMBULATOR RACE
MOTHERS WALK FROM LONDON TO BRIGHTON. London, April 7 A walking race of five mothers, each pushing a perambulator with a babv from London to Brighton 52 miles, was ,won by Mrs. Groom, of Eastbourne. in 12 hours 20 minutes. The winner was not exhausted.
Mrs. Firmager, of.Ertth, was second. Five started and three .finished The others were left resting by the roa'side.
Tne winner’s baby is five months old. The conditions allowed the mothers to attend to their babies’ needs while walking. An official of, the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children tried io dissuade the mothers from participating in the race. The mothers replied that thev were bringing up their babies on Spartan lines, and thev themselves wanted exercise. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
