HUTT VALLEY POWER BOARD
A meeting of the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board was held on Thursday, those present being Messrs. J. W. McEwan (chairman), A. J. McCurdy. H. Jay, W. P. Rarbor, A. J. Hobbs, W. Cotton. J. Press, F. H. Mather, and H. Foley. The Wanganui-Rangitikei Board wrote agreeing to co-operate in having piles inspected in Australia before shipment. The Ashburton Beard stated that it had made arrangements to have piles inspected on arrival in New Zealand.
On the motion of the chairman, it was decided to arrange for annual sinking fund payments in Fquidation of the special loan to be raised to carry out the necessary works. The engineer was instructed to call tenders for the supply cf steel and hard-wood piles. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr. F. H. Mather for information hg had supplied in regard to Australian timbers.
It was decided to call applications for the position of wireman and canvasser at a salary of £250 per annum. A sub-committee consisting of Messrs. Jay and McCurdy was appointed to- go into tho question of bylaws, and was instructed to report at the next meeting of the board.
