ROSENEATH ELEVATOR
ACQUISITION OF LAND Roseneath people about six months ago were led to expect action in respect to the electric elevator that the City Council promised the suburb some years ago. The difficulty lay in the acquisition of some land nt the top of thq quarry near the kiosk, this land being required as an approach to the lift frpm above. At one time Mr. J. J. McGrath was reported to have said that 'he would agree to ft valuation of the land required by the council if the valuation were made by the city valuer (Mr. James Ames). The valuation was made, but the value placed upon the land was. less than what Mr. McGrath thought tlie propertv w.is worth. The valuation had therefore to be submrtlefT to arbitration. So far the arbitrator has njt given his decision. As soon as the difficulty over the land is settled, a start will be made with the provirion of this new means of access to Roseneath.
