BRITAIN’S LIQUOR TRADE
PROHIBITION BILL INTRODUCED IN HOUSE. London, February 20. Mr. E. Scrymgeour (Ind.). Dundee, is introducing a Bill into the House of Commons prohibiting the manufacture, sale, or importation of alcoholic liquors, except for industrial, scientific, and medicinal purposes. For the lastnamed purposes the alcohol must be sold, in bottles labelled “Poison,” onlv by doctors’ prescriptions. Mr. J. R. Lort-Williams (C.) is introducing and amending a Licensing Bill to remove the present anomalies arising from varying opening hours in the metropolis, which result in bars being open on one side of the street and closed on the other.
